"While you may expect this sparkler to be more full bodied coming from the cru of Cartizze âÄì possibly the best site for the Glera grape âÄì the beauty of this wine is its elegance. The nose is at once citrus, fruity and floral: mandarin, ruby red grapefruit and lemon curd marry with white flowers and acacia that jump from the glass. The length of the wine is incredible." –Oct-15
Cartizze is a small, superiore-level area within Valdobbiadene which is known for its high quality Prosecco grapes grown on every hill in the region - Cartizze is the most famous of these hills.
The area is comprised of hillside vineyards, mostly south-facing (some of which are quite steep) with mixed soils - typically of glacial moraine, sandstone and clay - that are low-nutrient and well-drained.
After the initial fermentation, the wine is put in contact with its fine lees in stainless steel for 3 months. Secondary fermentation is done by “Metodo Italiano” in steel pressure tanks.
The wine exhibits youthful, fruity aromas with a delicate palate that is lightly sweet, yet finishes dry and crisp. Excellent as an aperitif and also partners well with light desserts.
