"The 2014 Chardonnay Larry Hyde and Sons opens with strikingly beautiful aromatics. Sensual, layered and polished, the Hyde boasts fabulous purity, nuance and class. Apricot pit, honey, candied lemon, crème brulee, wild flowers, mint and lightly buttered notes meld into the supple, radiant finish. This is a great example of Hyde."

"The 2014 Chardonnay Larry Hyde & Sons has a greenish hue to its light-gold color, a fresh, lively nose of poached pears, citrus oil, honeysuckle, a hint of pineapple and tangerine. This is a beautiful, full-bodied Chardonnay to drink over the next decade or more."

Aubert

The vineyard has a simple moniker, “a warm spot in a cool place.” This unique climate allows the Aubert team to achieve optimally ripe grapes with a vin-de-garde personality. Soils of Carneros are thin and the vines struggle to find nutrients, thus low vigor is the norm. Grapes are harvested at night. Primary and secondary fermentation are conducted in barrel and take nearly 7 months to complete. The wine is aged in 80% new and 20% used French oak barrels for 10 months, then racked to tank where it rests another four months before bottling.

2014 Vintage
In 2014, another season marked by drought, there was just enough late winter rain to allow adequate vine shoot growth. As the soils dried, the vines’ attention quickly turned to ripening a medium sized crop of extremely concentrated grapes. Fortunately, the growing season of 2014 did not have any heat waves and harvest arrived with the grapes possessing incredible flavors and natural acids. The 2014 Chardonnays remarkably unite the hallmarks of the 2012 and 2013 vintages. The wines carry the depth and potency of 2012 and the precision and energy of 2013.
