2014 Soter Vineyards Yamhill-Carlton District Pinot Noir
"The 2014 Yamhill-Carlton District Pinot Noir, which is principally sourced from Gran Moraine, includes 20% whole cluster fruit and is aged in 30% new French oak. This has a seam of chalk dust infusing the red berry fruit, mixed with rose petal and iris scents. This is well defined and earthy. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red fruit, a little more structured than its Ribbon Ridge counterpart, with fine salinity towards the bay leaf-tinged finish. It does not quite possess the persistence that would merit it a higher evaluation, however, it still constitutes a well-crafted, quite "punchy" Pinot Noir that should repay time in bottle."
