Robert Weil
95
"Quince and pear of jelly-like concentration are garlanded in chamomile, lily and mint in a performance whose aromatic intensity and seductively luscious fruitiness outdoes its Turmberg counterpart. Wilhelm Weil says there was not a noticeable or analytical difference in the material selected, but this tastes riper and its floral element is more sweetly perfume. That having been noted, the TurmbergÄôs coolingly herbal aspects are here as well, and in spades Äì almost as if we had herbal distillates in the glass Äì and there is no lack of chalky mineral substrate, shimmeringly stony interaction or mouthwatering salinity. Hints of fresh, zesty lime add welcome counterpoint. For all of its richness and sweetness, this preserves a refined mid-palate sense of polish and lift as well as an outright refreshment not to mention saliva-inducement and exhilaration in its formidably prolonged finish. It is nearly in a class by itself among the Weil 2014s, and my prognosis of age-ability may well prove conservative."
