VARIETAL COMPOSITION: 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot: co-fermented.
VINEYARD: "Pedregal" means a rocky place in Spanish, and that is certainly a distinguishing feature of the site. This is a small, hillside vineyard on the lower slopes of eastern Oakville that is planted to 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot. Planted in 1990 by noted vineyard manager Mike Neal, with 4x8 spacing. Clones: Clone 7 (Cabernet), Sterling Clone (Petit Verdot). Soil: Iron rich red soil with 85% Basalt rock. David has 100% control of farming since signing a long term lease in 2008.
FERMENTATION: Native-yeast and full natural malolactic fermentations.
AGING: 25 months in new French oak barrels
