100% Chardonnay. During a compressed harvest on the California coast, the two vineyards comprising this cuvée provided book-ends to the vintage. Haiku Vineyard in Mendocino County was the first pick on August 27th, contributing citrus-tropical fruit and subtle perfume while the Larson Vineyard in Sonoma Carneros, last to be harvested on September 12th, provides depth and a sense of place to the blend.
This duo of cool-climate vineyards are designated North Coast because of the Pacific Ocean’s distinctive influence. The vineyards within this boundary share a coastal trait: cool, foggy mornings, mild afternoons and chilly evenings, characteristics that help Chardonnay grapes retain crisp, refreshing acidity during ripening.
