Founded in 1869, the Wilhelm Walch winery is now managed by the fifth generation of the Walch family and it operates independently from the Elena Walch winery. In the nearly 150 years of its history, modern new buildings have enlarged and augmented the historic estate.
100% Pinot Noir fermented in stainless steel at 26°C (78.8°F), followed by aging in large Slavonian oak casks.
The vineyards of the Wilhelm Walch estate lie in the heart of the Alto Adige wine region in Tramin and Caldaro. They extend along the Mendola ridge, at altitudes between 250m to 700m above sea level, largely on extremely steep locations; a fact that shows in the fresh, precise fruit of the wines. The soil is characterized by Dolomite rock and consists, for the most part, of calciferous, but also sandy and loamy soils.
The vineyards are sustainably cultivated according to the guidelines for environmentally friendly viticulture. Uncompromising work in the vineyards along with manual cultivation and gentle harvesting by hand produces clean wines of fine varietal style.
