ELENA WALCH 'KRISTALLBERG' PINOT BIANCO
ELENA WALCH

The 'Kristallberg' bottling is made up of fruit from a single vineyard in Altenburg at an elevation of 600 m (2,000 feet). The soils are composed of porphyry (volcanic stone) on top of quartz, biotite and other minerals. After harvest the grapes are pressed gently, followed by a static clarification through must refrigeration. Fermentation partially takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 68°F. 15% ferments in French barrique barrels and matures there for another five months. Assemblage takes place in spring the following year.

Aromatically the wine has bursting notes of crunchy Asian pears, white stone fruits, muling spices, walnuts and a hint of minerality. On the palate the front has a juicy freshness with stirring acidity, while the mid and back palate are beautifully balanced from the barrel aging.
